Kentucky Lawyers For Temporary Protected Status Issues

There are countries that are so unsafe that the Department of Homeland Security gives their citizens a special designation: Temporary Protected Status (TPS). These nations may be undergoing severe economic hardship, warfare, or some other upheaval that makes it difficult for citizens abroad to return home safely.

Vickerstaff Law Office, PSC, Is Here To Assist You

The TPS application process is sufficiently complex that you will need a qualified Louisville immigration attorney to ensure success. Vickerstaff Law Office, PSC, has assisted many foreign nationals from distressed areas to remain securely in the U.S. We would be pleased to answer any questions you have.

Our Kentucky lawyers understand that it is often difficult dealing with the USCIS. That’s why we do our best to explain your legal status, and to remove obstacles to the life you want to live.

What Countries Are On The TPS List?

These are the countries currently on the TPS list:

  • Syria
  • Somalia
  • Sudan and South Sudan
  • Haiti
  • Honduras
  • Nicaragua
  • El Salvador

TPS Makes You Unremovable

Citizens of these countries who are currently in the U.S. may be eligible to apply to stay in the U.S. without fear of deportation. Temporary Protected Status may enable them to obtain employment and travel authorization here.

TPS does not last forever. It does not lead to lawful permanent resident status. Nevertheless, registering for TPS does not keep you from:

  • Applying for nonimmigrant status
  • Filing for adjustment of status
  • Applying for any other immigration benefit or protection you may be eligible for
